Douglas A-4B Skyhawk Walkaround Gallery

Douglas A-4B Skyhawk 142871 'N13-154903 RAN' Nowra 2014

Australia originally purchased 20 A-4G model Skyhawks for the RAN. By the time they were retired and sold to New Zealand we had lost 10 in accidents. RNZAF used them from 1984 until 2001. Ironically they were used by the RNZAF to attack RAN ships in training excersises. Two more were lost in 2001. The Ex-RAN A-4Gs, now upgraded to A4-Ks, were then sold on to a concern in the U.S. Therefore, there are no single seat ex-RAN Skyhawks in the country! This one, at FAA Museum, Nowra, is actually an ex-USN A-4B painted up as one of the RAN machines.
